Grilled cheese ala lola mom.
This was how my grandmother would prepare grilled cheese for me and JodiesNinang (my twin sister) when we were growing up. This would be our afternoon snack. It was either this or what we would call bread-butter-sugar (which was essentially bread toasted with butter and sugar). I miss our lola mom :(
Kaya Toast. Yumyum! More butter next time, please!!
Starbucks has a new sandwich. The Starbucks deli sandwich on a baguette. I had this for brunch and it kept me full for the entire morning/early afternoon. Yum!
I had to bring food for a small Christmas party at Jodies Kindermusik class. I was running out of ideas until I remembered this bake shop near our house. I decided on some savory rolls (Sausage and Ham and Cheese) from Purple Oven.
Purple Oven. Honestly, I used to just pass by this place and wonder what they serve. Until some friends/colleagues started mentioning it in passing: “Oh, try the chocolate cake of Purple Oven”… “lets just buy so and so a crinkles from Purple Oven”…”I have to pick up a cake from Purple Oven”.
I can’t believe it also took me this long to discover this place (this is already their 2nd branch!). But I’m glad I finally decided to drop by. The savory rolls were really good (especially the bread) and the crinkles were just how I like them to be — moist and generous on the powdered sugar. I’m already raving and I haven’t even tried their cakes yet! :D (hopefully, I get the chance to pass by after work tomorrow)
This is half of an order of the french toast from Starbucks. Comes with butter and maple syrup. I don’t get that anymore, because this is sweet and buttery as it is!
I wonder where their bread is made, because its H-U-G-E. Eating both slices in one sitting would be too much for me.
